Mod Fin Lit

Privacy Policy

Last updated July 22, 2026

Mod Fin Lit is a service of West Invest LLC (“West Invest,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We provide educational financial literacy content and tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or mobile app (together, the “Service”), you agree to this policy.

Mod Fin Lit is for educational purposes only and does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — your name and email address when you create an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, that provider shares your name and email with us so we can create your account. Your password is handled by our authentication provider; we do not store it ourselves.
  • Consent records — the consent language you agreed to (that you are 18 or older and accept our Terms and this Privacy Policy), plus the date and time, which we retain to document your agreement.
  • Marketing preferences — if you choose to opt in to marketing emails, we record your email address and that you opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time; opting in is never required to use the Service.
  • Information you enter into tools — figures you type into calculators to get results. These are processed on your device to show you results; we do not send the amounts you enter to our analytics providers. You decide what to enter and do not need to provide real amounts.
  • Support communications — messages you send us.

Information stored on your device

Your learning progress, saved goals, and quiz responses are stored locally on your device so the app can remember where you left off. This information stays on your device and is not sent to our servers. Clearing the app’s data or deleting the app removes it.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and analytics data— to understand how the Service is used and improve it, we and our analytics provider (PostHog) collect events such as screens viewed and features used, along with your device type, app version, and a random analytics identifier. This is product analytics only — we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • Diagnostics and crash data — to fix problems and improve reliability, our error-monitoring provider (Sentry) collects crash reports, error logs, performance data, device and app version, and IP address.
  • Push notification identifiers — if you enable notifications, our push provider (OneSignal) collects a device push token and basic device information so we can deliver notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
  • Other technical data — our infrastructure providers process limited technical information such as IP address to authenticate you, deliver content (including streaming lesson videos), maintain security, and prevent abuse.

We do not connect to your bank accounts or import your financial transactions. We do not use advertising trackers or pixels, and we do nottrack you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.

2. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its content.
  • Create, secure, and authenticate your account.
  • Remember your learning progress (stored on your device).
  • Send push notifications you have enabled, and marketing emails you have opted into.
  • Understand usage and diagnose problems (analytics and crash data).
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Monitor performance, prevent abuse, and ensure security.
  • Comply with legal obligations and maintain consent records.

3. Communications and notifications

Account emails. We send emails necessary to operate your account — such as verification and password resets. These are part of the Service and are not marketing.

Marketing emails. We send promotional emails only if you opt in (a separate, optional choice from creating your account), using our email provider (Mailchimp). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Consent to marketing is not a condition of using the Service.

Push notifications. We send push notifications only if you allow them when your device asks. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Service under contracts that limit their use of your data, including: authentication and database (Supabase), product analytics (PostHog), crash and performance monitoring (Sentry), push notifications (OneSignal), email (Mailchimp), and hosting and content delivery (such as Cloudflare and Netlify).
  • Legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

5. Cookies and SDKs

The mobile app uses the analytics, crash-reporting, and push software development kits (SDKs) described above to provide and improve the Service. It does not use advertising cookies or third-party ad pixels. Our website uses only cookies and local storage necessary to operate the site, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure usage. You can control cookies through your browser or device settings.

6. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and as required to meet legal obligations (including retaining consent records), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Information stored on your device stays there until you clear the app’s data or delete the app. You can request deletion of your account at any time (see “Your rights”).

7. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Export a copy of your account data.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails and turn off push notifications.
  • Depending on where you live, additional rights under U.S. state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA (California), including the right to know and the right to delete. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no such activity to opt out of.

To exercise any right, email admin@modfinlit.com.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. U.S.-only service

The Service is intended for users in the United States, and we process information in the U.S. It is not directed to individuals in the European Union, and we do not market to EU residents.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add paid subscriptions or recommend third-party products. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
